Terrain Tab
Terrain Settings
Layers Tab
- [+], [-] - Add or Delete a terrain layer.
- Up - Move the selected layer up; layers higher in the in the list are rendered last (have higher priority).
- Down - Move the selected layer down; layers lower in the list are rendered first (have least priority).
- Settings - Open the Layer Settings dialog for the selected layer.
- Load Setup - Load an existing layer setup.
- Save Setup - Save the current layer setup.
- Texture Repeats A - The repeats value for slot A. This will affect all textures in all layers that have the Repeats value set to A
- Texture Repeats B - The repeats value for slot B. This will affect all textures in all layers that have the Repeats value set to B
- Texture Repeats C - The repeats value for slot C. This will affect all textures in all layers that have the Repeats value set to C
- Texture Repeats D - The repeats value for slot D. This will affect all textures in all layers that have the Repeats value set to D
Layer Settings
Name
Enter a descriptive text for the layer.
Basemap Tab
- Texture - Select an image file to act as the base map for this layer.
- Repeats - Determines the size of this texture as it will appear on the terrain. Select from Slot A,B,C,D as defined on the Terrain Settings dialog.
Detailmap Tab
- Enable Detailmapping - Allows an additional texture to be rendered, multiplied with the Basemap. Useful for helping to break up the appearance of repetition in the texture.
- Texture - Select an image file to act as the detail map for this layer.
- Repeats - Determines the size of this texture as it will appear on the terrain. Select from Slot A,B,C,D as defined on the Terrain Settings dialog.
Bumpmap Tab
- Enabled Bumpmapping - Allows the use of a specialized height or normal map for faking bumps in the terrain.
- Texture - Select an image file to act as the bump or normal map for this layer.
- Normal Map (radio button) - Informs the system that the selected image is a normal map.
- Height Map (radio button) - Informs the system that the selected image is a height/bump map.
- Height scale - Set the intensity of the effect for the height map.
- Specular Map - Select a file to act as the specular map for this layer.
- Repeats - Determines the size of this texture as it will appear on the terrain. Select from Slot A,B,C,D as defined on the Terrain Settings dialog.
Autopaint Tab
- Enabled - Toggle the Autopaint feature for this layer.
- Coverage - Sets the amount this layer will show through overlapping layers.
- Max. Height - Set the maximum terrain height this layer will appear on.
- Min. Height - Set the minimum terrain height this layer will appear on.
- Max. Slope - Set the maximum slope this layer will appear on.
- Min. Slope - Set the minimum slope this layer will appear on.
- Noise - Sets the amount of variation in the coverage of the layer.
- Noise Detail - The higher the percentage the finer grained the noise.
Extras Tab
- Footstep Sounds - Select specific audio files to play when stepping over this terrain layer in Walk Mode. Four files need to be selected.
- Auto-Plant Object - Select a specific .nl2sco file to appear on the terrain according to the Auto Plant settings in the NL2SCO Editor; useful for grass and other foliage.
Water Tab
- Density - Set the clarity of the water.
- Texture - Select an image file to act as the surface texture for the water.
- Repeats - Set the size of the repeating water surface texture.
- Bumpmap - Select a specialized height or normal map for faking bumps in the water.
- Normal Map - Inform the system that the bumpmap is a Normal Map.
- Height Map - Inform the system that the bumpmap is a Height Map.
- Scale - Set the intensity of the effect of the Height Map.
- Repeats - Set the size of the repeating water bumpmap texture.
- Reflection - Set the intensity of the reflection effect on the water surface.
- Waves - Set the intensity of 3D waves effect.
- Load Setup - Load an existing water setup from a file.
- Save Setup - Save the current setup to a file.
