Paths Tab
The Paths Tab contains options to create walkways. The workflow of creating walkways is the following:
- Set the styles of the new paths that should be built. This includes the material, the curbs, the width, straights or curves, start/end style.
- After all style options were set, switch to the Add Path edit mode.
- Add new path objects by using the mouse. Multiple paths can overlap for creating more complex shapes. Make sure the terrain is even under the path. The Flatten Terrain option might be usefull.
- Paths will always be built on top of the terrain. Shaping the terrain beforehand might be necessary.
- It is not possible to change existing paths. They will stay fixed until deleted using the Bulldoze Path edit mode.
- Changing the terrain afterwards, will not affect the existing paths.
- Delete and create new paths if existing paths should look different.
Path Material
Select the material of the walkway's top surface, from a list of predefined materials. This setting affects the next path that will be built. It is not possible to change the material of an existing path object. Please note that custom materials are not supported in the current path engine.
Curb Style
Select the style of the curbs that will be added to the walkway from a list of predefined materials. This setting affects the next path that will be built. It is not possible to change the curb style of an existing path.
Straight / Curve
There are two different types of path objects: straights and curves. This setting will affect the next path that will be built. It is not possible to change the style of an exsting path.
Round / Rect
This setting controls how the paths's ends will look like. There are two different options. Round is the default and will automatically add a rounded end, which helps creating seamless overlapping path segments. Rect mode will not add this rounded extra pieces, which might be usefull for creating sharp corners. This setting will affect the next path that will be built. It is not possible to change the style of an existing path.
Width
Set the path width with this option by either selecting a predefined width using the slider, or by entering a custom value into the text field. This setting will affect the next path that will be built. It is not possible to change the width of an existing path. Please not that the unit option (metric or imperial) that is currently selected in the Setup, will affect the set of predefined widths.
Adjust Terrain
When building a path that goes up or down a hill, this option (when enabled) will make the terrain to automatically adjust to the new path. This setting will only affect the next path that will be built.
Select/Modify
The standard edit mode. In this mode, any mouse actions will be neutral to existing paths.
Add Path
Select this edit mode to create a new path using the styles and options that are currently set. Use the mouse to move the cursor over the terrain, to set the location to where the start point of the new path should be. A round disc will indicate that location. Press the left mouse button to define the start point and then move the mouse to set the end point. Pressing the right mouse button will cancel the build. Holding down the ALT key while moving the mouse (Option key on macOS) will prevent the mouse cursor to snap to an existing path start/end position. Building curves is slighty more complicated. After setting the start point, a curve also requires to set the start direction, which is indicated by a white line originating from the start point.
Bulldoze Path
Use this edit mode to delete an existing path object. Simply click on the path object to remove it.
